Belarus’ export to Ukraine up 1.5 times in January-July
KYIV, 7 September (BelTA) – In January-July Belarus increased its export to Ukraine 1.5 times over the same period last year and reached $1.3 billion, BelTA learnt from the trade and economic group of the Embassy of Belarus in Ukraine. The supplies of potash fertilizers skyrocketed almost 18 times. The export of Belarusian tractors and tractive units soared almost 4 times (up to $49 million). Sugar export went up by 2.5-3 times to $51.1 million. Belarus earned $50.9 million from the export of ferrous metals and products from them, $38.2 million – refrigerators and freezers, $20.6 million – mixed mineral fertilizers and $20.1 million – trucks. In July 2010 Belarus and Ukraine showed the biggest monthly trade turnover and export ($403.6 million and $260 million respectively) since the crisis 2009. In January-July 2010 Belarus-Ukraine trade exceeded $2.2 billion, up 47% over the same months a year ago. Import from Ukraine made up $926.4 million. Belarus recorded trade surplus amounting to $381 million. Ukraine ranks second after the Russian Federation in Belarus’ foreign trade. Ukraine also holds third positions in Belarus’ export and import leaving behind Poland, China, Latvia, Kazakhstan, Italy, the United States and others.
