Belarus Investment Forum in Germany arouses big interest among foreign partners
MINSK, 22 November (BelTA) – Belarus Investment Forum in Frankfurt am Main has caught the interest of foreign investors, Foreign Minister of Belarus Sergei Sidorsky said in an interview to Belarus TV. In his words, Belarus’ first investment forum took place in London, a so-called financial hub of Europe, two years ago. It was the country’s first introduction, its presentation calling card. “The forum held in Frankfurt am Main was more advanced and aroused greater attention. The venue provided for the forum was designed for 400 people. But it accommodated nearly 700 people what proved the interest in our country. According to the preliminary data, there were signed 22 agreements and a memorandum worth nearly $2.7 billion. There were signed agreements on setting up new manufactures, including plate rolling at the Belarusian Steel Works, a new company to produce wood goods jointly with an Austrian company and the construction of hotels. There were also considered projects concerning alternative energy and environment,” the minister said. Sergei Martynov noted that “one should not expect some extraordinary results from a one-time event”. He made clear that attracting foreign investments is a long and systemic process.
