Belarus President wants quality army in Year of Quality
MINSK, 23 February (BelTA) – Belarus’ Year of Quality covers all areas of life and should be the year when new quality goals in training and development of the Armed Forces, other troops and military units in Belarus will be reached. The statement was made by Alexander Lukashenko at a solemn reception held on 23 February to mark the Fatherland Defenders and Armed Forces Day. The Belarusian head of state underlined that in the year of the 65th anniversary of the Victory in the Great Patriotic War veterans of the frontlines and the home front, partisans and resistance heroes deserve special attention. “We should remember that we all have an irredeemable debt to them,” said Alexander Lukashenko. He stressed that every Belarusian veteran should feel every possible care. “It should be borne in mind the year 2010 ends the five-year period and goals outlined by the third All-Belarusian People’s Congress must be reached,” emphasized the President. In his words, officers of national security agencies make up the most important component of Belarus’ intellectual, professional and cultural potential. “The country needs your energy, persistence, imitativeness, knowledge and experience,” said the Belarus President. Alexander Lukashenko was confident that the officer’s honor and a strong feeling of responsibility for the fate of the Fatherland that are inherent in the army and power-wielding agencies will help successfully accomplish the most complicated missions.
