Belarus, Russia, Kazakhstan intend to set up Eurasian Commodity Exchange
MINSK, 17 February (BelTA) – Representatives of the Customs Union of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan signed the protocol of intent which envisages the creation of the Eurasian Commodity Exchange, BelTA learnt from the Belarus Universal Commodity Exchange (BUCE). BUCE Chairman Arkady Salikov will represent the interests of the commodity exchanges at the EurAsEC bodies, coordinate their cooperation. It was stated during a working session of the chairmen of the commodity exchanges of the countries-participants of the Customs Union which was held in Minsk on 15-16 February. Participants of the Minsk session discussed the creation of the Eurasian Commodity Exchange for agricultural products and foodstuffs. The creation of the Eurasian Commodity Exchange for agricultural products and foodstuffs was approved by the protocol of a session of EurAsEC Integration Committee’s Council for Agro-Industrial Policy on 13 November 2009. The agriculture ministries of Belarus, Kazakhstan and Russia have determined the Belarus Universal Commodity Exchange, the Moscow Stock Exchange, the Kazakhstan International Commodity Exchange as the shareholders of the Eurasian Commodity Exchange.
