Belarus to launch online tourist map
MINSK, 3 November (BelTA) – Belarus is planning to launch an online map providing information on its 5,000 tourist facilities, BelTA learnt from main specialist of the National Tourism Agency Vitaly Stomma. In his words, an agreement has been concluded with the Belgeodesiya Company which is to develop the base material. Belarus’ tourist attractions, information on which is available at the State Cadastre of Tourist Resources, will be marked on the map. The databank contains the information on 20,000 facilities; therefore one in four tourist facilities will be available on a virtual map. Tangible historical and cultural immovables as well as natural objects will be marked first on the map. Apart from that, Internet users will be able to find information on the most popular social and cultural facilities, including hotels, recreation centers, sanatoriums, farmsteads, etc. The interactive map will be placed at the national tourist portal of Belarus. Almost all the information on the tourist facilities will be available in Belarusian. “The information will probably be translated into English to stimulate the interest in the Belarusian tourist industry among foreigners as well,” Vitaly Stomma added.
