Belarus will waste no whey in 2013, Rusyi says
VERKHNEDVINSK, 21 July (BelTA) – Belarus will waste no whey in 2013, Minister of Agriculture and Food Mikhail Rusyi reported to President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko who is on a working trip to Vitebsk Oblast. Currently 700 tonnes of 3.5 million tonnes of whey produced in the country are left unprocessed. The minister said that in two years, absolutely 100% whey will be processed and sold as different products. Thus, dairy enterprises will operate as non-waste production facilities. Vitebsk Oblast Governor Alexander Kosinets reported to the head of state on the performance of the Vitebsk State Concern “Meat and Dairy Products”. For two and a half years Br350 billion has been invested in the upgrade of dairies and meat-packing companies affiliated with the concern. This work will be completed in 2012, which will signify the complete processing of meat and dairy products. The production of cheese and dairy products will be increased significantly by 2015. Alexander Kosinets noted that Vitebsk Oblast has boosted deliveries of dairy products to Minsk several times. The number of foreign sales markets increased significantly, too. At first the Vitebsk concern supplied products to 11 countries. Today it exports to 39 destinations. The President believes that in case of success and high profits, similar concerns can be created in other regions of the country. "We need to look into the meat and dairy complex. If you think that it is going to be effective, other regions should follow suit,” the head of state said addressing the Vitebsk Governor.
