Belarusian and Lithuanian border services to develop joint action plan for 2011-2012
GRODNO, 17 August (BelTA) – Chairman of the State Border Committee of Belarus Igor Rachkovsky and Lithuanian Border Guards Commander Vainius Butinas have met in Belarusian Grodno to discuss the prospects of the cooperation of the border departments of the two countries, BelTA has learnt. The sides are set to discuss the bilateral cooperation of the border departments, the joint participation in the programs on international technical aid to develop border checkpoints in both the countries, the implementation of the Belarusian-Lithuanian state border treaty. According to Vainius Butinas, this year both the sides are expected to launch the implementation of the first joint projects aimed at developing the border checkpoints. The border guards of the two countries have shown good results in the joint work to combat illegal transit migration, the Lithuanian official noted. The heads of the border services of the two countries visited a border checkpoint, laid flowers on a monument to the soldiers-border guards who were killed during World War II in Grodno. Igor Rachkovsky and Vainius Butinas are expected to visit the Bruzgi Border Checkpoint to participate in a working meeting there. The sides plan to develop the joint action plan for 2011-2012.
