Belarusian government to support Riga-based Belarusian school
MINSK, 18 August (BelTA) – President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko has instructed the government, oblast administrations and Minsk City Hall to provide all kinds of support to the Riga-based Belarusian school, the press service of the President of Belarus told BelTA. The school will get furniture, training equipment, computers, sports gear, textbooks, toys and everything else needed for education and recreation from Belarus. The head of state has also issued an instruction to arrange annual recreation for students of the Belarusian school of Riga at the national education and recreation center for children Zubrenok and to arrange sightseeing tours around Belarus for the students. They will be also invited to the New Year charity celebration to be held as part of the action Our Children. The Belarusian school of Riga, Latvia’s only Belarusian school, was created in 1994. The number of students is on the rise. At present there are 130 children studying there. Of them 70% are ethnic Belarusians.
