BREST, 13 July (BelTA) – Brest intends to earn over ?500,000 at the world U23 rowing championship which will be held in the city on 21-25 July, Nikolai Khevuk, head of the physical culture, sport and tourism department of the Brest Oblast Executive Committee, told reporters in Brest on 12 July, BelTA has learnt. The championship is funded by the Belarus Ministry for Sports and Tourism and the Belarusian Rowing Federation. All in all, they have allocated around Br1.2 billion, Nikolai Khevuk said. During the championship, the Brest hotel network and local recreation centers will be used to accommodate VIPs and foreign tourists. The regional trade organizations and public catering plan to make big profits as well. For instance, a new restaurant seating 200 people will open in the site of the championship. “The world U23 rowing championship in Brest will become the biggest sports event in Belarus in 2010.
