Clear-cut support system for Belarusian large families

Clear-cut support system for Belarusian large families
MINSK, 5 March (BelTA) – The government should work out a plain and clear-cut system for supporting families with many children, President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko said on 5 March as he bestowed state awards upon Belarusian women. “Due to financial troubles of last year in early 2012 the government was instructed to work out a normal, understandable, and plain system for supporting families with many children,” said Alexander Lukashenko. “The aid should be targeted and we will do it in the near future. Housing will be a priority. Large families in the countryside and in the city should have a roof over their head”. The President stressed aid to large families should be a priority for the government. Speaking about healthcare, Alexander Lukashenko said Belarus now boasts cutting-edge obstetrics and childcare standards. However, the head of state believes state support needs to maintain the right balance. “The aid should not discourage parents from working for their children. Nobody supported anyone in the past while families used to have at least 6-7 children,” remarked Alexander Lukashenko. Alexander Lukashenko remarked a complex of measures to enhance social and economic support for families with kids is being implemented in Belarus. Maternity benefits are raised, housing for large families and young families is improved. “In recent years we have managed to overcome negative tendencies of falling birthrate. Even in the complicated year of 2011 about 110,000 children were born in Belarus, the highest figure registered in the last decade,” stated the Belarusian leader. The head of state congratulated all women on the oncoming spring holiday. He wished them happiness, wellbeing, good health, love, new accomplishments, and awards.
