Days of Belarusian Culture open in Lithuania
MINSK, 24 September (BelTA) – The Days of Belarusian Culture opens today in Lithuania, BelTA has learnt. The Days of Culture are organized by the Embassy of Belarus in Lithuania in cooperation with the Culture Ministry of Belarus and the organizational and financial support of Minsk City Hall and the Mogilev Oblast Executive Committee. The opening ceremony of the Days will take place at the Lithuanian National Philharmonic Hall of Vilnius on 24 September where Alexander Anisimov’s orchestra will perform Piotr Tchaikovsky, Dmitry Smolsky, George Gershwin and Johann Straus. The Yanka Kupala and Lithuania expo from the collection of the Yanka Kupala State Literary Museum will open at the Mitskevich Public Library in Vilnius on the same day. According to the Culture Ministry, the folk group Kupalinka will tour as part of the Days. The Belarusian State Academic Music Theater will present its musical West Side Story. The Mogilev Oblast Drama Theater will show a number of one-man plays in Vilnius and Visaginas. Among them will be Lovers Complaints, Cafй’s Host, It is Time to Take on the Bright Side of Life. Apart from that, Visaginas will play host to the 17th Festival of Belarusian Song. The Days of Belarusian Culture in Lithuania will wrap up on 30 October with The Fountain of Bakhchisarai play by the National Academic Bolshoi Theater of Belarus at the Lithuanian National Opera and Ballet Theater.
