MINSK, 15 July (BelTA) – In January-June this year Belarus produced 16.9 billion kWh of electricity, up 13.2% from the same period a year earlier. The production of heat energy increased by 9.5% to 10.5 million Gcal, BelTA learnt from the National Statistics Committee of Belarus. In H1 the power engineering industry of Belarus produced the resources worth Br5.275 trillion, up 11.5% from the same period of last year. An increase in the production of electricity is due to then growing energy consumption in the country as compared with the same period of last year, Belenergo said. The increase in the production of heat energy was due to colder winter.
