Lukashenko promises more technical students in Belarus
MINSK, 18 November (BelTA) – The enrollment of students at technical universities and departments will be increased in Belarus, Belarus President Alexander Lukashenko said as he visited the High-Tech Park in Minsk on 18 November, BelTA has learnt. “We will increase the number of students the High-Tech Park needs,” the head of state said. Talking with the administration of ЕРАМ Systems operating in the HTP, the President said that Belarus will train more engineering students to meet the need in such specialists. Revealing the reasons why he decided to open an office in Minsk, Chairman of the Board of Directors of EPAM Systems Arkady Dobkin praised the high quality of training of technical students in Belarus. “The country has preserved excellent traditions of technical education from the Soviet times. Belarus can boast a quality education. University graduates in Belarus feel as confident as graduates of Harvard and other renowned educational institutions,” he said. However, he said, the company has now about 200 openings and there is no one to fill them. First Deputy Prime Minister of Belarus Vladimir Semashko informed that the Education Ministry is considering a possibility to increase the enrollment at technical universities. This plan might materialize in the next academic year.
