Poland keen on investing in Belarus
MINSK, 9 June (BelTA) – The interest of Polish companies in investing in Belarus has been steadily growing, Joanna Strzelec-Lobodzinska, Under-Secretary of State at the Ministry of Economy of Poland, said at the 14th Belarus-Poland Economic Forum Good Neighborliness 2010 on 9 June. In her words, more and more Polish companies are showing interest in investing in Belarus, its banking and energy sector, production of construction materials, processing of agricultural products. According to her, Polish investment plans in Belarus cover many areas of economy. Joanna Strzelec-Lobodzinska expressed hope that Belarus would continue improving investing conditions as well as the Customs Union of Belarus, Russia and Kazakhstan would boost the trade and economic cooperation between Belarus and Poland. She also noted that in this respect it is important to keep preferences in the Belarusian free economic zones, including for the export of the products. As for the Belarusian-Polish cooperation, Joanna Strzelec-Lobodzinska drew attention to the fact that the two sides need to intensify the dialogue between the border and customs services in order to optimize the border crossing process between the two countries.
