MINSK, March 16 (BelTA) – The spring sowing campaign has started in Belarus. The agricultural companies of the southern regions of the Brest, Gomel and Minsk oblasts will be the first in the country to start sowing. There is no snow here, and night above-zero temperatures help the topsoil dry fast and start fieldwork shortly, BelTA learnt from the Agriculture and Food Ministry. The agricultural companies of these regions have already been feeding the winter grain-crops with minerals. Spraying devices and ploughs have been transported from the northern regions to accelerate the sowing campaign to the southern regions. The sowing campaign in the northern oblasts will start much later. Therefore a temporary redeployment of the equipment to the south will allow using it more rationally. The Ministry of Agriculture and Food formed 12 working teams who will visit all regions on March 20-21 to check the readiness for spring field works. Some teams will be headed by the minister and his deputies. The report on the readiness of agricultural organisations for the spring sowing campaign will be submitted to the government.
