The government plans to develop satellite towns, including Dzerzhinsk, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said at a ceremony to commission the Olympus sports and recuperation complex in Dzerzhinsk on 21 June, BelTA has learned.

Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed a decree on 20 June to bestow an Order of Honor upon Gennady Zyuganov, the leader of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation faction in the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation, the press service of the Belarusian leader told BelTA.

Trade unions should take an active part in the forthcoming harvesting campaign. Belarus President Aleksandr Lukashenko made the request as he heard out a report from Chairman of the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus Yuri Senko, BelTA has learned.

On 18 June Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko signed a decree to set up a permanent working group to review the performance of the National Academy of Sciences of Belarus, BelTA learned from the press service of the head of state.

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko has convened a meeting of the Security Council as a follow-up to the new National Security Concept adopted at the recent Belarusian People's Congress. Today the Security Council is set to consider a draft regulatory act related to the assessment of national security, BelTA has learned.

The Belarusian economy is performing well by and large this year, although certain things cause concern, Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko said as he was receiving a report from Prime Minister Roman Golovchenko on 17 June, BelTA has learned.
