Draft decision on Union State media holding company to be ready by year end

A draft decision on the media holding company of the Union State of Belarus and Russia will be ready by the end of the year, State Secretary of the Belarus-Russia Union State Dmitry Mezentsev said at the extended meeting of the Council of the Parliamentary Assembly of the Union State of Belarus and Russia in Pskov on 4 September, BelTA has learned.

“As for the implementation of Aleksandr Lukashenko's instruction to set up a media holding company of the Union State, we have an instruction signed recently by the head of the Supreme State Council to the Standing Committee and to the Ministry of Digital Development of the Russian Federation and the Information Ministry of Belarus. The board meeting has been held both in closed and open formats. The strategy for the media holding company has been worked out. We plan to submit the draft decision of the Supreme State Council by the end of the year, which will lead to a certain reformatting of the Union State media,” Dmitry Mezentsev said.

In his words, there is an agreement that the amount of funding from the Union State's budget for the next year on media topics will stay intact. “Because we have to inform about what we manage to do within our formats for the society at a completely different level than today,” the state secretary emphasized.
