Belwest introduces ISO 9001-2009 standard

MINSK, 10 November (BelTA) – Belwest has certified its quality management system in compliance with the ISO 9001-2009 standard, BelTA learnt from Belwest on 9 November. Belwest’s previous quality management system was compliant with the ISO 9001-2001 standard. This year the company was able to recertify the quality management system to meet the previous standard but decided to introduce a new ISO 9001-2009 standard. “This standard is a bit different than the previous one, though the difference is not that big,” said the company’s representatives. After the introduction of the new ISO 9001-2009 system Belwest will be able to boost the interaction with customers to find out their opinion on quality, design and other characteristics of Belwest’s footwear. The customers will be also able to take part in the creation of new collections. Belwest has already launched an online feedback tool to communicate with its customers. The company gets different recommendations and wishes from consumers regarding the footwear assortment. For example, consumers would like Belwest to resume the production of one of the 2003 models and expand the assortment of footwear of small and big sizes. “Consumers’ proposals will be considered and taken into account as we launch the production of new footwear collections,” Belwest specialists informed. According to the Bellegprom concern, 74 companies of the industry have introduced the ISO 9000 quality management systems. Belwest was founded in 1988 by the Krasny Oktyabr company from Vitebsk and Germany’s Salamander. Since late 2002 Belwest has been the Belarusian-Russian joint venture. The product line is refreshed by more than 50% every year. Belwest produces men’s and women’s boots, shoes, sandals, moccasins.
