Gas service now in every regional town of Vitebsk oblast

A good gift was presented to residents of the town of Rossony for the 70th anniversary of the Vitebsk oblast. January 16 saw the solemn launch of the natural gas supply service in the town. Energy Minister Alexander Ozerets, Vitebsk Oblast Governor Vladimir Andreichenko, top executives of the Rossony region and representatives of the general public took part in the event. With the natural gas distribution grid including Rossony now natural gas is now available in all regional towns. Representatives of natural gas company Vitebskoblgaz told BelTA, efforts to connect Rossony to the distribution grid were exercised in Polotsk and Rossony regions in 2007. Over the time Beltopgaz company built over 50 km of high-pressure gas distribution pipes. The innovations fund of the Energy Ministry allocated over Br12 billion for implementing the project. The gas distribution grid in the Rossony region will improve the ecological situation in the area as well as living standards of individuals. It will also open up additional opportunities for the development of rural communities. The ability of using natural gas supply was first granted to dwellers of apartment houses. Over 900 apartments and the town’s central boiler house now use constant natural gas supply. The agro-town of Selyavschina has been connected to the natural gas supply network. In the near future the local bakery and other companies will be switched over to using natural gas. Work will continue to connect more individual households to the gas distribution grid in 2008.
