Renowned Polish pianist Jan Krzysztof Broja gives concert in Vitebsk

VITEBSK, 25 October (BelTA) – Renowned Polish pianist Jan Krzysztof Broja gave a piano concert in the Vitebsk Philharmonic on October 24 to mark the 200th anniversary of the famous composer Frederic Chopin, BelTA learned from art director of the philharmonic Nelli Mazaberidze. It was the first time that Vitebsk lovers of classical music could appreciate the art of the Polish pianist who, in turn, could appreciate the sound of the Steinway piano, the pride of the regional philharmonic. Jan Krzysztof Broja is the winner of international piano competitions in Hanau (Germany), Braunschweig (Germany), Bucharest (Romania), and Pasadena (United States), won an international competition named after M. Churlenisa in Vilnius, and is the owner of three non-competitive awards of the 13th International Chopin Competition in Warsaw. The pianist performed at the Concert Hall in the Kremlin, and gave concerts in many countries in Europe, Latin America, the United States and Japan. The Musician took part in the making of Roman Polanski’s movie, The Pianist. Together with the Symphony Orchestra of the National Philharmonic of Poland he recorded a disc with a symphony of Szymanowski. This recording was nominated for the Grammy 2010 award. In Vitebsk, the musician performed works by Frederic Chopin. The concert was organized with the support of the Polish Institute in Minsk and Adam Mickiewicz Institute (Warsaw). In addition, the regional philharmonic organized a concert of organ music by honored artist of Russia Daniel Zaretsky. In his first appearance before the Vitebsk audience the organist from St. Petersburg presented the program called as the Music of the Paris cathedrals, which included the works by French composers. Daniel Zaretsky performed in almost all cities of the former Soviet Union, and now tours extensively in Europe and the United States, Israel, Australia and South America. The musician has won the Open All- Russian Competition of Organists, the International Organ Music Competition in Germany, and international contests in Italy and Finland. The concert by Daniel Zaretsky on October 23 opened the organ music season at the regional philharmonic. This season the philharmonic will organize concerts of musicians of the European schools of organ music, including Austria, Germany, France and the Netherlands.
