Small towns of Vitebsk oblast increase consumer goods output by 21.9% over two months

In January-February this year small towns of the Vitebsk oblast increased the production of consumer goods by 21.9% over the same period last year, BelTA learnt from deputy head of the economy department of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee Zinaida Koroleva. The most significant growth of the consumer goods output was registered in Lepel, Glubokoe and Dubrovno. According to Zinaida Koroleva, it is a result of the implementation of the state programme of development of regions and small settlements which foresees the priority development of the industrial sphere in these settlements. According to the deputy head of the economy department, the major part of the basic regional investment projects is carried out in small towns of the region. This year a shop to produce cheeses will be launched at the Verkhnedvinsk Butter and Cheese Making Plant, the production facilities of the Glubokoe and Lepel Dairy Plants will be modernized. A modern vegetable store is being constructed in the village of Orechovsk. Since the beginning of the year more than Br43 billion has been invested in developing the production capacities in small towns of the Vitebsk oblast. The state programme of development of small towns includes 40 settlements of the Vitebsk oblast. By the end of 2010 almost Br800 billion will be invested in developing the production capacities in small towns, about 400 investment projects will be implemented there.
