Vitebsk launches production of heat-keeping polystyrene concrete blocks

A self-supporting division of the republican unitary company Vityas – Vityas Construction Department – has launched the production of heat-keeping polysterene concrete blocks, BelTA learnt from Valery Chertkov, the chief of the department. The first consignment of blocks – 200 cubic meters – has already been sold to Russian building companies, which actively use this construction material. According to Valery Chertkov, Russian companies started the production of polysterene concrete blocks long ago. They use them to build cottages and additional stories, to protect thermally walls and facades. Scientists from Polotsk State University took part in developing the Belarusian technologies for the production of the indigenous polystyrene concrete blocks. The durability of polysterene concrete blocks up is 20% higher than that of gas silicate blocks, the moisture content is five times lower and thermal conductivity is two times higher. Production wastes are used in the manufacture of polysterene concrete blocks. One cubic meter costs around Br170 thousand. Next year the department plans to increase the production of polysterene concrete blocks up to 150 thousand cubic meters what is closely comparable to the capacity of a medium house building factory. For that the department will invest more than Br1 billion. The department manufactures 15 descriptions of construction materials and also constructs residential housing.
