Vitebsk, Moscow scientists to carry out joint pancreatic surgery research

The joint research in the area of pancreatic surgery will be launched by Vitebsk State Medical University and the A.V. Vishnevsky Institute of Surgery (Moscow). The partnership agreement between the university and the federal scientific institution has been signed in Vitebsk on November 26, BelTA has learnt. According to Doctor of Medicine, Professor of the Moscow institute, chief research worker Vyacheslav Yegorov, the Russian scientists got interested in the research carried out by the Department of Surgery of the Vitebsk university and its associate professor, Candidate of Medical Science Anatoly Shchastny on pancreatic and hepatic surgery and pancreatitis. The scientists of the A.V. Vishnevsky Institute of Surgery are researching these diseases, too and are ready to cooperate with their Belarusian colleagues. They can provide the Belarusian university with the methodological assistance and help carry out clinical research. Vyacheslav Yegorov underlined that it is a long-term agreement which will also cover other areas of surgery. An agreement has been reached on the exchange of scientific personnel. The professor added that joint consultations of patients living in remote areas may become possible due to the development of telemedicine. The implementation of the agreement has already been launched. Professor Vyacheslav Yegorov and Associate Professor Anatoly Shchastny will perform joint surgeries in the Vitebsk oblast hospital.
