Vitebsk State University develops strong pedagogical school

VITEBSK, 26 November (BelTA) - The Vitebsk State University n.a. P.M.Masherov has developed a strong pedagogical school well-known outside the country, Education Minister Alexander Radkov, who is attending the session of the Council of the Vitebsk State University dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the university, told BelTA. The 100th anniversary of the university is a remarkable event for Belarus, the minister said. “Those who teach children should have good education, and the Vitebsk University that was set up as a pedagogical institution, has always pursued this goal,” Alexander Radkov is confident. Today this establishment of higher education continues developing as a classic university and has a strong pedagogical school. The university has scientific schools in philology, chemistry, physics, mathematics, arts (preserving the best traditions of Yuri Pen, Kazimir Malevich and Marc Chagall). The Vitebsk State University has also established a good astronomy school. The university is looking to the future with confidence and is making new plans. The university’s material and technical base will be further developed. According to Alexander Radkov, there are plans to construct another educational building, a swimming pool, hostels, including for foreigners. “Our education is in demand abroad. The university is in close cooperation with China, Turkmenistan and other countries,” the minister noted. The celebrations are attended by delegations of Bialystok State University (Poland), East China Technological Institute and Vocational Institute of China, the Tatarski State Humanitarian and Pedagogical University and the Mariinski State University (Russia), the Vinnytsia State Pedagogical University (Ukraine). The Vitebsk Teachers Training Institute was opened in November 1910 and became the first establishment of the kind in Belarus.
