Vitebsk to host international investment forum in February-March 2009

The business contacts established by Vitebsk oblast’s companies during the Belarus Investment Forum in London will be discussed at the international investment forum which will be held in Vitebsk in February-March 2009, BelTA learnt from Chairman of the Vitebsk Oblast Executive Committee Alexander Kosinets. The programme of the forum will be set up in line with the interest of potential investors in implementation of concrete projects in the region. Businessmen from the USA, Israel, Great Britain and also the potential investors who showed their interest in projects of the Vitebsk oblast during the investment forum in London will be invited to participate in the Vitebsk forum. During the forum in Vitebsk, the projects dealing with the production and social areas, transport and logistics infrastructure, the banking system will be proposed to international business circles. The Vitebsk Free Economic Zone is expected to present projects on production of up-to-date electronics and household appliances, furniture, construction materials. “We have to use the preferences of the free economic zone to attract foreign investments,” Alexander Kosinets highlighted. The foreign investors will get familiar with the projects on construction hotels, development of service industry and public catering. The tourist infrastructure has the potential which could be used to the benefit of residents of the region, Alexander Kosinets underscored. According to him, at present the tourist services take only 0.5% of the oblast budget. Special attention will be paid to creation of the tourist infrastructure in historical places of the city, the places connected with the names of Marc Chagall and Kazimir Malevich. According to the Governor, during the investment forum in Vitebsk, the city may organize the Chagall Days and the exhibitions dedicated to his creative activity.
