Lukashenko reminds government of their pledge to complete autumn field work by 7 November

Belarusian President Aleksandr Lukashenko reminded the officials of their vow to complete field work by 7 November as he received a report on the state of affairs in the agricultural sector on 29 October, BelTA has learned. 

Belarusian Agriculture and Food Minister Anatoly Linevich reported to the head of state on the topic. “Just do not throw figures at us,” the president warned the speaker. “Name the main points.”  

“You swore to finish all the field work by 7 November (you are still to do tillage works),” the president said. “Tell me how you finished?” Aleksandr Lukashenko asked about the completion of the harvesting campaign and the results achieved in terms of certain types of crops. “How much beet is in the fields? Are any potatoes, cabbage left in the fields? Are there any apples, pears still on trees? Have you harvested all the maize for grain?” the president said outlining a range of questions. He also asked how the autumn tillage for spring sowing was proceeding and how the winter sowing had gone.

Anatoly Linevich, speaking about the completion of the harvesting campaign, said that 98% of all maize had been harvested so far. He added that the grain maize harvest was still underway (previously, the task was set to complete this work by 10 November), and there was still work to harvest maize for silage. According to the minister, “the work is almost complete”.
