BRSM to be actively involved in presidential campaign

The BRSM Youth Union is determined to take an active part in the preparations and conduct of the forthcoming presidential campaign in Belarus, Second Secretary of the BRSM Central Committee Andrei Belyakov said at the 42nd Congress of the youth union on 20 January, BelTA has learned.

The year 2015 will mark important political events for the country, and the BRSM Youth Union cannot stay behind. “We are not a political party, but this does not mean that we stay away from politics. We are concerned by the future of our country and we are determined to take the most active part in the preparations and conduct of the presidential election,” Andrei Belyakov emphasized.

In this regard the BRSM Youth Union will closely collaborate with the Belaya Rus NGO, the Federation of Trade Unions of Belarus, and the Belarusian Association of Veterans. “I can assure you that the youth will play a prominent role in this alliance. We have already started preparing for strenuous and demanding work that we will have to do during the presidential campaign. We are trying our hand at it by conducting opinion polls, including those in the Internet. We have set up a sociological laboratory together with the Center of Sociological and Political Studies of the Belarusian State University,” the Second Secretary of the BRSM Central Committee said.

“Our network is already operational and I am convinced that it will be useful for the forthcoming election campaign, just like the youth marathons Make Your Choice designed to educate young people about self-fulfillment opportunities available in Belarus,” Andrei Belyakov said.
